Why you're not feeling the way you used to.

This is the argument behind Performance Collagen, in our own words. Some of it is research. Some of it is what we believe after decades of looking. We’ll tell you which is which, and give you the sources so you can check them yourself.

Watch it, or read it below.

The short version, in about a minute.

*These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

It started as a personal quest.

We spent years looking for a health product that actually worked. Everything on the market fell short, and we wanted to know why. What we found was that the fundamental building blocks were missing, in our food and in the products meant to make up for it.

We've been nutritionally starving.

We believe that for decades, in the quest for greater corporate profits, commercial agriculture has found cheaper and cheaper ways to raise crops and livestock. And we believe that mass production depletes the full spectrum of minerals our bodies need to do what they’re supposed to do: heal themselves.

There is data behind the worry. A study of USDA records for 43 garden crops found reliable declines in six nutrients between 1950 and 1999.1 The authors pointed to how crops are bred for yield. We think it’s part of a bigger pattern.

What happened to the 72 trace minerals?

Five decades ago, in college, we were taught that the body needs about 5 to 7 major minerals and about 72 trace minerals. Search for it today and you’ll be told we need 13 to 16, and that 72 is a marketing ploy.

We don’t accept that. Our belief is that modern guidance, perhaps under pressure from powerful agriculture lobbies, has downgraded what the human body requires. It conveniently excuses the poor nutritional value of our food.

If 13 to 16 are enough, why have hip, knee and shoulder replacements kept climbing in this country?2 What changed?

We eat the youngest animals. Our ancestors didn't.

Most chickens are butchered at six weeks. Most cattle at eighteen months. We believe those animals haven’t matured enough to develop the collagen our bodies use. Centuries ago, our ancestors didn’t catch the youngest, fastest animal. They caught the oldest and slowest, rich in developed connective tissue.

That’s why Performance Collagen comes from mature, pasture-raised and free-range sources, and wild-caught fish.

We’re not anti-capitalism. We are anti-avarice, and frankly disgusted with a healthcare system that we believe puts corporate profits ahead of citizens’ health. Just answer this: is there any money in wellness for that industry? What would happen overnight if everyone got healthy?

The future of health isn’t another pill or another surgery. We believe it’s nutritional restoration.

The fault is ours.

We’re not gunning for the medical community or for American agriculture. We’re calling out Americans who’ve let themselves be hoodwinked, ourselves included. Where we put our money is where those industries go.

Would you let a plumber into your home and believe him if he said a dripping faucet meant every pipe in the house had to go? Of course not. You’d use common sense. Yet put someone in a white lab coat and we’ll take a pill instead of controlling our diet.

We got tired of that story when it happened to us. So we built Performance Collagen. Because without the key building blocks, your body can’t do what it was engineered to do.

Always talk to your doctor, especially before starting any supplement.
